What is an industrial flow meter?
A flow meter is a measuring instrument that quantifies the flow rate of a fluid passing through a pipe. The flow meter measures volumetric flow rate in units of volume per unit of time or mass flow rate in mass per second. Flow sensors use various principles such as the Coriolis effect, ultrasound, vortex shedding, or turbines to measure flow velocity.
Electromagnetic flow meters measure the flow rate of conductive liquids using a magnetic field. Mass flow meters determine the mass flow rate independently of temperature and pressure.
